I must agree with the previous comment. Although, I was abnle to vote things like this happent to many people in the US today. There are measure the communities or school can take to make sure this doesnt happen. The last presidental elections was a memorbale experience that all should have taken part of if they they felt the need to exercise their vote. My school made sure all seniors or juniors who were of age signed up to vote, and addition to that the DMV makes you sign up while filling out your papers for your license.

Yeah, that’s what I’m concerning about too. Parents in the USA spend almost their time at work, they don’t really know what their children are doing.

Im from New Orleans too but I dont know everything there is to know about my city. It seems as if those who live Uptown spend majority of their time and life Uptown and the same goes for those who live Downtown and across the river. I didn’t know as much about Uptown until i went to high school and then it make a little bit more familiar to me. I definitely don’t like to go to Metairie because the environment there is totally different.

High school was the same for me as well. It wasn’t much effort I had to put in to make A’s and B’s. Nor was it much time I had to put into study the work presented to me. College is a totally different story and time management is a MUST. Sometimes it seems as if there isn’t enough time in the day nor enough energy to keep me lively. I’ve heard after the first semester things get better and hopefully they do and the first semester is just a big adjustment.

This election played a huge part in history and I am proud to be apart of it. For the first time I was able to vote, it was an election I was exactly into, and I think I played a major role in it. I can tell my children the piece of history I played a role in like your grandparents tell you. This was even the first election my grandmother vote for, and many others as well. My friends and I even had a Obama party to celebrate his winning because we knew he would win. All I can remember is my friend and I riding home blasting that Young Jezzy song shouting out the window “OBAMA WON OBAMA WON”!!!

For me coming to Xavier and meeting so many people was different because my high school was fairly small and everybody knew everybody. Although I’m not a person to just walk up to someone and start a conversation, I’m not shy to speak up or continue the conversation.

The police have made many efforts into increasing the number of police on the force but who wants to join a task where your life isn’t guarantee. When teens as young as 15 start committing crimes like robbing and killing the thought of becoming a policemen is a wondering. Crime also becomes a problem and a factor when parents aren’t doing their job.

I agree the racial make up of a neighborhood does not matter. Its all according to the people who live in it. Although the neighborhood I am currently living in is African-American it doesnt mean only African-Americans can live there. People of the same race tend to group together in certain neighborhoods and I find that its only in New Orleans that people do that. Recently a white man move down the street from where I live. Although it was a shock it didn’t bother me.

English is important, since it teaches us how to write better and more professionally, but I’m just not the English-type. I rather work with Math problems than essays.
